THE BROOKLYN FOLLIES

Paul Auster「THE BROOKLYN FOLLIES」読了。
11th September はアメリカの作家にどのように影響を与えたのか、それを考えて読むとおもしろいと思う。

「THE BROOKLYN FOLLIES」は彼の他の作品とは趣きが異なるような気がする。他の作品にあるような、境界を越えて向こう側の世界に消えてしまうような感覚はこの作品には無い。逆に登場人物は目前にある世界にこだわり、生きて行くことを決意している、例え世界自体がかわってしまっても。


I finished reading [THE BROOKLYN FOLLIES] by Paul Auster.
Reading this title with consideration of the impact of 11th Septembers on American authors, it will be more interesting.

[THE BROOKLYN FOLLIES] gave me a different impression from Austers' other works. I can not feel a sense of across the border between the real and another world, and vanishing there, which I feel it from his other works. On the contrary the characters in this novel get stuck into their own life as the real and determine to live their own small life, even though the world changes itself.

プルートゥ PlUTO

「プルートゥ」８巻読了。「Monster」「２０世紀少年」とやたら引っ張り続ける作品が続いた浦沢直樹。
８巻で終わってくれて正解だ。特に「２０世紀少年」は長かった、無駄に。

ただ、「プルートゥ」は急ぎすぎた感はある。
そして皆が納得するハリウッド的な終わり方は変わらず。
もう一巻分連載を続けたら、更に深い作品になったと思う。

「Monster」「２０世紀少年」「プルートゥ」と読みおわって感じるのだが手塚治虫を意識する割には、手塚治虫が目指した境地から逃げてるのか、そのつもりも無いのか、残念だ。

I finished reading [PlUTO] volume 8. I suppose it is right Naoki Urasawa finished it at volume 8. It must be better, compared to [Monster] and [20 century boys] Urasawa did not get them over readily. Especially [20 century boys] was too long.

But as I feel [PlUTO] is too hearly to finish. In addition the way of　finishing of [PlUTO] as same as his previous two works, which is like Hollywood film everybody prefers. If Urasawa continued [PLUTO] in one more volume it would be deeper and more meaningful.

After reading [Monster], [20 century boys] and [PLUTO], I feel Urasawa tends to avoid facing the achievement goal which was Osame Tezuka aimed for Uraswa has been aware of Tezuka. Uraswa might not even think of it, though. That's pitty

崖の上のポニョ Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea (DVD)

ジブリ好き。ジブリ嫌いと言ってみたいのだが、どうにもこうにも好きなものは仕方が無い。
しかし、なんでもかんでも好きだというわけでも無く、「となりの山田くん」は観たいと思わず、「ゲド戦記」は期待して観て、ただただ哀しくなった。

「崖の上のポニョ」は周囲の評判も良く、観ようかなと思いつつも結局、映画館に足を運ばなかった。単純にそれほどもう期待もしていなかったのだろう。

そして今日、「崖の上のポニョ」のDVDを借り、小さなテレビで鑑賞する。

これは大きな映画館の大きなスクリーンで観るべき作品だった。
これがアニメーションだ。
神話的な世界を描き切った絵の力。
説明や説教の世界から解き放たれ、暗闇で聞く口述伝承のような作品。
映画館の暗闇で観るのが正しい作品だ。

要は細かいことは良い、「崖の上のポニョ」は凄い。
とんでる。

I love GHIBLI. I wish I disliked GHIBLI, though.
But I don't say I like all of GHIBLI works. There are some of them I am not very keen on. I don't want to watch [My Neighbors The Yamadas] and when I watched [Tales from Earthsea] I just felt utterly sad, because it was awful.

When [Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea] was released I would go to see it. Because it had a good reputation around me. However, I didn't head to the cinema to watch the film. As I feel now I didn't hope for GHIBLI works anymore, simply speaking.

[Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea]s' DVD was released. I rented the DVD and watched it on my small telly.

I realised I should've watched this film on a big screen at the cinema. [Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea] is exactly ANIMATION can achieve the mythical world. It is free from the world of too much explanation and lecture. It is like an oral literature in the dark night. This film shoud be required watching at the dark inside the cinema.

Anyway, to sum up, [Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea] is terrific.

Anathallo concert in 渋谷 O-nest 2009

昨日、Anathalloのライブ（渋谷O-nest)にいってきた。感想は 素晴らしかった。始まった途端に 好きになってしまった。ここで何か語れるほど音楽に詳しくないのがもどかしいのだが、なんとも言えない心地よい音楽でありながら、甘くない。まあ、百聞は 一見にしかず、この場合は一読したって仕様が無いので、myspace なりLastfmなり、もしくはYoutube で見ていただきたい。

痛く、感動したのだが音楽に詳しい友人曰く、音のバランスが良く無く、決してベストのライブでは無かったそうな。

まだまだ修行が足りぬ。もっとライブに足を運ばねば。

I went to Anathallo concert in Shibuya O-nest. It was brilliant. I took a liking them so much as soon as they started the play! I am not the expert who can talk about music in this blog. But if I am allowed to talk about it, their sound is pleasant but aggressive too. If you wanna check Anathallo, just check them at myspace or Lastfm and Youtube and so on.
But the concert was not so great (and not bad) cause the balance of sound was not so well, according to my friend.

I should go music concerts more..

Sunshine Cleaning

本日、アメリカ映画「Sunshine Cleaning」を観に行ってきた。
プロデュースが「Little miss sunshine」と同じということで足を運んだのだが、
ほぼ同じ感覚で観ることができる。

ストーリーは冴えない姉妹が変死現場の清掃を始める話。
いってみれば、ニューメキシコ版「おくりびと」。

そこには酒田の美的田園生活はなく、過去にしばられた二人の姉妹の心象風景のように
ニューメキシコのやさぐれた郊外の風景が画面に映し出される。
そして二人は血液と肉片を悪臭の漂う部屋でひたすら片付け続ける。

ここまで書くと救いの無い話しのようだが、そこは「Little miss sunshine」と同じ
プロデュースチーム。それでも人生なんとかなる、と思わせてくれる。

余談だが”クロエ”がでてる。

I went to the cinema to watch [Sunshine Cleaning] today. Because this films' Produce team same as [My Little Sunshine] which I like. I suppose [Sunshine Cleaning] gives us almost same impression as [Little miss sunshine].

The story of this film is about sisters who start the business of cleaning the scene of unnatural death. The story is New Mexico version of [Departures: Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film at the 2009 Oscars], in manner of speaking.

However, there is no beautiful country life such as Sakatas' scenery (the local town in East-north Japan). Instead of it, it is shown that the scene of dull life in the suburbs of some city in New Mexico, like mental image of the sisters who stick their past.
And they simply continue the business of cleaning blood and a piece of human body in bad smell rooms.

As far as you have read my comment of this film so far, you may think the film is too dark and helpless. But this film is based on positive idea.
"Do not worry mate, things will work out!"

In this connection I may add that you can see "Chloe" in this film.
